Examples excursions:

Alabama: Tour to the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge in West Blocton, AL in May to observe the rare Cahaba lily, an aquatic flowering plant which is only found in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. Would entail carpooling to the site, presentation by MTM staff, Cahaba River Society, or USFWS staff, about the flowers, wading in 1-3’ deep water to see flowers, picnic-style boxed lunch from restaurant, driving back to meeting site.

Georgia: Cloudland Canyons State Park, Tallulah Gorge State Park, Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, Amicalola Falls State Park, Providence Canyon, and more.

Tennessee: Tour to the Hatfield Knob Elk Viewing Tower at the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area in Campbell County, TN during October to view the elk rut. Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Frozen Head State Park, House Mountain, Cherokee National Forest, Nantahala National Forest, and more.

Pennsylvania: Tour to the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Kempton, PA during late September to observe the hawk migration. Would entail carpooling to the site, overnight accommodations, two days on site watching hawks with Hawk Mountain staff and MTM staff, with overnight stays, then driving back to meeting site.
