Project Description
New York Projects
Our staff has previously completed fieldwork conducting avian population studies and hazing management at two landfill reclamation sites in New York. Multiple surveys were conducted daily from dawn-to-dusk documenting all bird species seen or heard. Population data was collected using species point counts, spot mapping, shorebird breeding pair surveys, and nest counts. Hazing management was also conducted to discourage large flocks of birds (Canada geese and gulls primarily) from utilizing the sites to prevent bird strikes at a nearby airport and to prevent birds from consuming the native grass seed broadcasted to establish vegetation across both reclamation sites.
